BIO & WORK PHILOSOPHY
Hi there, my name is Mat Jones. I specialise in restoration projects relating to period properties (Victorian, Edwardian & Georgian). Over the years I have developed a strong knowledge of skills, appropriate materials and products relating to best practice regarding these types of properties.
I use traditional lime based products for internal and external repair to damaged stone (which allows for breathability and movement), appropriate timber/ treatment and decorative practices. I have a sound understanding conservation area/building regulations and can help with any design aspects you may require.
INDOOR WORK

Original pitch pine floors levelled, repaired (using reclaimed boards), slithers installed, sanding and colour tinting & sealing service offered.

OUTDOOR WORK

Stone aspects of these old properties are prone to erosion by water ingress and cracks/failure due to age and natural movement between seasons. Cementitious renders often crack away and are not appropriate on top of the original stone composition. We use sympathetic, less aggressive, breathable compounds to repair or even re-cast and replace stone elements.

Small repairs like cracks, small areas of rot and re puttying undertaken up to full restoration involving stripping old lead paints, replacement cord, pulleys, weights, brushed beads etc to improve insulation . Repair to hardwood wooden sills and full replacement if required.

Loose tiles cleaned and re-installed . Missing or broken tiles can be sourced from reclaimed or new replacements found . Full deep clean and sealing services offered.

High quality durable and breathable paints used on a variety of external surfaces including wood, stone and metal.
